City Park is a landscaped garden in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, a small refuge in the sweltering metropolitan heat among flowering trees and shrubs. Nestled opposite the High Court, key features of the park include a pair of water buffalo statues, pergola draped with creepers that runs in a circle, and North Borneo War Memorial - a monument that pays tribute to fallen soldiers during World War I-II.
Composed of an obelisk sculpted from granite and a stone plaque in front, the monument is the park's most striking structure. Today, the park also hosts a bus terminal for the Sabah-Brunei-Sarawak (Lawas, Miri) transborder route, along with trips to Menumbok.
