Murut Cultural Center is a museum and gallery dedicated to one of Sabah's largest native groups, famed for their head-hunting history, colourful costumes and lively dances. Located 10km before Tenom town on the main road from Keningau, the center is housed within a large timber complex of traditional Murut village architecture.
Inside, visitors can explore cultural artifacts, handicrafts, musical instruments, wood carvings, cermonial urns and even contemporary art works. Outside on the gardens, visitors will find an additional gallery showcasing dresses and relics, and a traditional Murut meeting hall on stilts with dance floor. The center opens daily till evening with a small ticket fee.
