Desa Dairy Farm is a cattle ranch and milk factory at
Mesilau, about 4km from
Kundasang town or 9km away from
Kinabalu Park. This popular tourist attraction is the only cattle farm of its kind in Malaysia, producing Sabah's own home-grown milk from actual dairy cows thanks to the cold climate afforded by the Borneo highlands. From Kundasang town, follow the signboards to Mesilau and the farm's vast plains will come to view at left before the entrance - a steep and poor gravel road. A small ticket fee is charged on visitors, but the attractions and sights are well worth. They include feeding calves, milk tasting and observing the herding, extraction and treatment process in the factory.
