Kampung Luanti is a village 20km away from Ranau, located along the east coast highway to Sandakan next to Sabah Tea Garden. The Dusun people that live here enforce a fishing prohibition system ('Tagal') over Sungai Moroli, a clear water river that meanders through their village. During certain periods of the year, the ban is lifted and fish is harvested at certain portions along the river.
At this particular spot, the fish are protected completely - tamed and trained by hand to provide foot and body massages to people that wade into the water. This unique fish spa theraphy has attracted visitors from far and wide, especially tourists on detour from Mount Kinabalu.
