Klias Wetland

Sabah, Malaysia

Kota Klias is a wetland region and nature reserve 120km south of KK City or 20km northwest of Beaufort, located along the highway to Menumbok. This mangrove sanctuary is a popular visitor attraction that features a river safari to see Borneo's proboscis monkeys and fireflies at night, available direct from KK through various tour operators in hotels, offices and terminals around the city.

A tour package usually begins in the afternoon with a long drive south to one of many nature lodges stationed along the river. When the boat is full, it departs the jetty in search of wildlife along the riverbanks till late evening (for fireflies). Upon return, a buffet dinner is served before returning to KK.
