Wetland Center

Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu Wetland Center is a nature reserve protecting one of the last few remnants of a mangrove forest that once covered Likas area extensively. Situated 1km behind KK City Center, accessible by a slip road from Signal Hill, the park was formerly known as City Bird Sanctuary and covers 24 hectares of peat swamp draped with Rhizophora trees - some replanted from past conservation campaigns.

Over 80 species of birds including migratory species have been recorded here, but birdwatchers will usually spot eagrets, herons and kingfishers on the 1.5km boardwalk. The center opens daily from 8am till 6pm - a small ticket fee is charged at the entrance office.
